December 2004
Happy Holidays!
ACTION HABIT has been nominated for the Annual Nine Volt Magazine
Hampton Roads Local Music Awards! We have been nominated in two
categories: Album of the Year and Best Pop/Rock Band. Pick up a copy
of Nine Volt magazine to view the entire list of nominations and vote
for Action Habit! You can also visit the Nine Volt website( www.ninevoltmag.com)
for voting directions - BUT be aware the website listing is
INCOMPLETE! As of now, we are not listed under the Album of the Year
nominations, but rest assured, we ARE nominated, and you can (and
should!) vote for us in both categories. Don't forget the write-in
categories either - best singer, best drummer, etc.
Everyone should be listening to internet radio, a great way to find
the variety we all crave. Check out Ghent Radio online at www.ghentradio.com
and support this fine station. Tune in! They play a great mix of
quality rock and roll, including Action Habit. Action Habit is also
receiving radio play on some traditional stations - the HomeGrown show
hosted by Shelley on FM99, airing at 11pm on Tuesday nights and on
Paul Shugrue's Out of the Box on public radio FM89.5 WHRV, Monday
through Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm , another exceptional radio program
in the area.
We are now on myspace! Come visit the Action Habit myspace scene: www.myspace.com/actionhabit
(There's a bonus mp3 available on Myspace that's not on our website -
go listen!)

CD's are here, they
sound great! Be sure to pick one up at the next show or order
one right here.
We traveled to Nags Head just recently and had the honor of playing
with a band called the Decibators from Chicago
(go check out their
website
here)
at
Neptunes Grill.
August 30, 2004
Greetings
Action fans! We've got word that our latest studio effort will
arrive in the mail sometime this week which means we'll have them
available for you at the New Belmont show. We can't wait for you
t o hear it! We spent many months getting this together in our
own studio, Thinman Studios, and with the help of our good friend
Jarrett Pritchard we've produced something that you'll be proud to
own. The cost for these CD's will be only $5 so don't
delay!
There are a couple
of great shows lined up for September, the first being at The New
Belmont with The New Kent Killers, should be a great evening.
The second being the Virginia Music Fest and Art Expo in Richmond,
VA. Check out the website here, http://www.vamusicfest.com.
There will be tons of great music and art to enjoy so head on down
the road!

ACTION
HABIT next weekend at the Tap House in Ghent! We're looking
forward to seeing the opening band, Federali, as I've heard many good
things about them. You can visit their website at www.holycowboyrecords.com
and complain about the fact that they don't have an Action Habit link
on their links page. And come check them out live with us,
Saturday, August 7th.
Our new 5-song EP is
getting pressed! We hope to have it in our hands in time for the
August 7 show, so scrape together your spare change and bring an extra
$10.00 to the show just in case. T-shirts will also be
available!
Dave V went off on a
fabulous island vacation to the Virgin Islands, leaving the rest of us
to muddle through without him for a week. The
rest of us were consumed with jealousy until he came back and gave us
all bottles of rum. Really good rum too, mango-flavored,
pineapple-flavored, coconut-flavored...
May 2004
First
off, we've just booked a last minute gig for this weekend, May 22 at the
NorVa with the Von Bondies. You
know the Von Bondies, right? They
do that very cool song "C'mon, C'mon" from their very cool
album, "Pawn Shoppe Heart".
More importantly, they inadvertently got tons of press for
feuding with Jack White of the White Stripes.
We don't know many details, but apparently getting into a fight
with a media sweetheart is good for business.
We're trying to convince Gina to start a fight with one of the
chicks in the Von Bondies. If
all goes well, this may be your last chance to see Action Habit before
we become huge rock stars due to the Rock and Roll Catfight Cover Story
that Rolling Stone Magazine would be sure to publish as a result.
That's
this Saturday at the NorVa (www.thenorva.com)
with the Von Bondies (www.vonbondies.com).
Only $10.00 in advance and $12.50 day of show.
Doors
open at 7 and we'll go on early, so plan to get there by 7:30.
Also,
pick up a copy of Splash, the local
Virginia
Beach music and entertainment magazine available free at clubs and music
stores. There's a nice
Action Habit article inside - of course you'll want to clip it out,
laminate it, and post it on your fridge for all your friends and family
to admire. Or at least read
it.
New
T-shirts are here and will be for sale at our live shows.
We decided to change the design a bit and go with classic
simplicity: black t-shirts
with a white logo - absolutely perfect, smugly understated and timeless
style for every day of your life. Available
in both regular tees and girl tees.
The
May 8 show at the New Belmont was great, Rip Dizzy was great as always,
and we greatly look forward to playing there again.
Thanks to all who came to the show, we hope to see you all at the
NorVa this Saturday!
April 2004
Spring is here, and
we're looking forward to the warmer weather, although it's too bad
Anthony will have to pack away his Prada ski hat until next
winter! The season change is just in time; Action Habit is waking
up from it's winter hibernation in the studio and be back in live action
soon! The as yet untitled 5-song EP is just what you need to fill
out your music collection. Really.
February's last minute
show at VA Beach Seafood, Inc. was awesome - enthusiastic crowd, good
beer, great time overall. WE look forward to playing there
again. Thanks to Sean (sp) Bolling for the great sound
and Shahana for manning our mailing list. (If you haven't already,
make sure you sign the mailing list at the next show, or sign up through
this website here.
But the February show
was just a dress rehearsal - don't miss Action Habits much anticipated
(at least by us) return to the stage - ACTION HABIT live at the New
Belmont Saturday, May 8th with RIP DIZZY!! The New Belmont,
located in Ghent (623-4477), is an absolutely beautiful restaurant and
bar, and a great place to see a show. If you haven't caught Rip
Dizzy before, this is the perfect opportunity: two great bands at a
great venue.
Be sure to check the calendar
page for more dates throughout the summer. Look for our latest
recording to be available at shows soon.
February 2004
ACTION HABIT: still alive and well and coming
soon to a bar near you! We will be appearing live this coming Monday,
February 23rd at Virginia Beach Seafood,
Inc. The mysterious, buried treasure of a club (of Larry May from the
Candy Snatchers fame) is not to be missed. VA Beach Seafood Co. is known
for quietly exposing some of the best punk and rock bands on the East
Coast - and the food's supposed to be awesome too. It will be late, but
come out and get a day-early jump-start on celebrating Fat Tuesday. The
venue is located at 1706 Mediterranean Avenue in Virginia Beach, phone
is 757/428-4844. We will be hitting the stage about 11:00 pm Monday, Feb
23rd. Break out of your normal
routine and come rock out with us on a Monday.
Other news - though we may seem a
little quiet lately, we've been keeping busy writing new songs and
recording. We even managed to squeeze in a photo shoot - thanks to
gifted photographer Sophy Ivy, the pictures came out great. Look for new
photos here soon! Dave V has a new bass pre-amp, thus far he's very
pleased with the first trial run, (thanks to Walter Wright and Alpha
Music for technical support). Anthony's been making surprise appearances
at Jim Hazel's (aka the genius behind the The Factory Playboys) open mic
nights held every Thursday at the New Belmont. Go out there some
Thursday evening, you never know when you might catch Anthony teaming up
with Dave Almeleh (of Quang T, The Factory Playboys and others) for a
Who or a Rolling Stones anthology.
That's all for now, but remember:
don't miss us Monday night for this last minute show! Should be a fun
one. And keep checking the site for new pics coming soon...
December 2003
Happy Holidays and Seasons
Greeting and all that stuff!
Great show at The Taphouse last month, The Bottle Babies opened the show
and were awesome. Thanks to everyone who managed to get their
Thanksgiving stuffed butt up and out to the club.
We have finally moved everything into the new rehearsal space, much
appreciation to fellow musicians Junk Drawer for hooking us up with the
space! Located in the heart of downtown Norfolk, it's the perfect
spot for us to settle down and finish our first full length CD.
We're also in the process of booking shows for the new year, so keep an
eye on the calendar page.
October 2003
Come rock out with us on
Friday the 17th as we try to raise some cash for the underprivileged
children of Indonesia! In conjunction with EVMS, Surf Aid
International, WRV, Whalebone and Hotline we are participating in this
ever so needed benefit show with Pink in the Middle and The Jesse Chong
Band at The New Belmont in Norfolk. Don't miss out on this
one! Tickets are only $5 at the door.

August 2003
How's the album coming you
ask? Splendid, it's not the easiest thing to put together since
we're doing it ourselves from track to press pretty much, but it sounds
great so far!
The Taphouse show was
great! Kudos to our new guitarist, Gina Dalmas, for her excellent
performance. Her first show with the band was truly a baptism by
fire!
Our next show is
Saturday August 16th at Coyote West in downtown Norfolk, don't miss this
one...our soundman is costing a mint so it's bound to sound really
really good. At least it better for the price.
I'm still working on
the guest book, don't know what the hell is wrong with it as my HTML
skills are not the great, but it seems to me it's a server side
issue. Could be wrong, often am.
May 2003
Action Habit are
taking some time off from playing live to concentrate on recording our
cd. We also welcome Gina Dalmas into the band as our second guitarist.
We will use the next couple of months to get her into the pocket as
well. Things are going very smooth for the moment. We hope to play out
live again sometime in late July or early August with the new line up.
Please check the calendar often for upcoming shows, and for updates on
the recordings. We hope to put some songs on the web site as a sneak
preview to the entire project.
February 2003
Thanks to everyone who
voted for us with all the Ninevolt Mag music awards.
Check our calendar
for upcoming shows, we've got a few coming up at various places around
the Hampton Roads area during the months of March and April.
Things are progressing
rather nicely at the studio, we've got 17 songs down in bare-bones form
(just drums and some guitar) and are planning to record at least 5 more.
After we're satisfied with the drums we'll move on to other tracking
such as guitar, bass, vocals and anything else we decide to add to the
album. We're taking our time on this one and hope to put out a
killer cd so get ready! Watch for sneak previews you can download
coming soon to this website.

April 19th, 2002.
Here is an
excerpt from an article in Nine Volt Magazine written by David Almeleh
that contains 3 really good pieces of advise:
"I learned a few
lessons that weekend: first, when you're thrown to the wolves, grab the
biggest one of the pack, and whoop his ass from the git-go. Jump
in and make mistakes and have a good time. It's the best way to
learn, arguably, but a hell of a lot more fun than sitting in a
classroom. Teachers and classrooms don't teach you about
performance; performing does. Music is about fun and expression,
whether pleasure or pain.
Number two is you almost always sound better to the crowd than you
think. Most of the time they know less about what's going on than
you, or else they'd be doing it themselves.
Number three is always give your band vehicle the once over before a
long trip, and double check the part the holds the steering wheel
on."
(Taken from the April
17th, 2002 issue #88 of Ninevolt Magazine)
March 25th, 2002.
We now have new regular
T-shirts and Baby Doll T's available! Look for new pictures to be
posted soon. Instead of the Royal Blue color on the regular T's,
we decided to go with a darker color this time. Be sure to get one
for yourself! We have applied for the CMJ Music Marathon 2002
Showcase this year and are hoping to get some play time up in New York
at the end of October. CMJ Music Marathon will take place October
30 - November 2, at the Hilton New York in the heart of New York City. Click
here for more info.
Be sure to
catch us on the Internet at these streaming audio radio stations:

And

March 2002.
Hello to everyone. As you can see, this site has taken on a brand new
look. Volumes of praise go out to our web mistress Dina Richards, as
well as Dave Voightritter, for getting the new site up and running.
Check back often for up to date information on the lives of Action
Habit. We have been deep in the process of writing some new material
lately. We are also starting to build our own studio so we can start
recording a full length release for your listening pleasure. Action
Habit are playing many shows in March and April at some unique venues
for us. Please check the calendar listings for information on these
events, and come out often. These clubs are giving us a chance to play,
and we want to get people to attend so we can have more choices of
venues to play. More t shirts are on the way also. We should have all
styles for sale at the Taphouse show on March 23. Thanks for stopping
by.
